Smoke Alarm Protection

In Queensland, from 1st January 2022, landlords are required to install interconnected smoke alarms in all residential rental properties. Why?

According to the NFPA, the death rate per 1,000 home structure fires is 55 percent lower in homes with working smoke alarms than in homes with no alarms or alarms that fail to operate. This statistic alone is the reason that Fire Authorities globally have provided smoke alarms under various protection schemes, to homes in need of them.

If you have smoke alarms in your home, it’s a good idea to regularly check that they are working. If you don’t have a smoke alarm – “don’t say you weren’t told“.
